The past few years has seen mass production of Silicon PV cells
(solar cells, the synonym for the PV cell), and better and better
cell performance, as well as larger and larger sized cells. Furthermore,
extensive research efforts in recent years has resulted in the development
of Compound Semiconductor and Dye-sensitized Solar Cells - which
may very well highlight the next generation of PV cell technology.

EKO has more than 10 years experience in PV cell, module and array
evaluation. Based on this considerable experience, EKO has successfully
developed the MP-160 I-V Curve Tracer, which can measure all types
of PV cell and module technologies. The MP-160 employs the electronic
load method, and thus both a broad measurement range and high resolution
are realized.
The MP-160's performance makes it ideally suited both for indoor
evaluation employing solar simulators, and for outdoor evaluations
under natural sun light.
For outdoor evaluations such as exposure tests, an automatic measurement
mode is available, and long-term continuous data can be obtained.
A module scanner is optionally available for the simultaneous evaluation
of up to 48 modules. For indoor evaluations, fast simultaneous sampling
of the voltage, current and radiant energy (from a reference cell)
is available. A correction function that accounts for the instability
(turbulence) of simulator light sources makes more precise measurement
possible. Additionally, the MP-160 may be used for all type of lamps
and solar simulators. As a result, the MP-160 can be introduced
into the R&D facility, and the latest production lines, by combining
automatic cell-temperature control using a cooling circulator, and
automatic cell conveyance.
